Time for an update
It’s time for another update… I noticed we hadn’t posted for a while! Sorry the headline isn’t very catchy this time; blame it on my sleep deprivation. Nora is almost a month old and is a great baby – most of the time. She has been having what I would call “colic-like episodes” just about every day, usually in the early evenings. She tries to eat, but gets all upset and seems to be having digestive pains. Doug and I are not good at coping with the inconsolable crying, but we’re doing our best. The crying doesn’t seem to affect Molly too much, thank goodness. Hopefully Nora will start feeling better soon… we tried “gripe water” and that seems to be helping a little bit. We also swaddle her up and place her in a side-to-side swing (thanks, Steph!) and eventually falls to sleep.
When Nora IS napping during the day, I’ve been watching episodes of Arrested Development and The Tudors from my Netflix DVDs. And of course, I’m always trying to catch up on sleep but it’s hard for me to catnap during the day once I’m up and awake. Nora still gets up 2-3 times at night, so hopefully that will improve in the weeks ahead. It’s been several months since I’ve slept through the night, but at least I can sleep on my stomach again…
We’re expecting my whole side of the family over 4th of July weekend as we celebrate Nora’s baptism and my dad’s 60th birthday… should be fun! I just hope the weather cooperates and that Nora is more on a schedule, but I think those things are out of my control!
Molly has a new friend at preschool – another boy (surprise, surprise) named A.J. She talks about him ALL THE TIME and I thought her world would come crashing down when he was home sick last Friday. Alas, he is back at school now and they’re always playing together in the sandbox when I come to pick her up!
I think Nora is about to wake up soon, so I better get going…

Mirabel went through some of those crying spells (we figured it was gas) but now she seems to have grown out of it- hope the same is true for you, too!
I remember Xavier would get fussy like that, too. I wouldn’t call it colic, but seemed to be digestive or intestinal. It got a lot better after the first 2-3 months or so, so hang in there!! I’m looking forward to helping out next week–I hope that will mean a few extra naps for you
UPDATE: Amazingly, Nora slept for almost 7 hours last night! She slept from 9pm to almost 4am… I feel so refreshed! Let’s see if this trend continues!

I just checked out some of your pictures. I couldnt help but notice that Nora stole the spot for June 2008. I have noticed in my own “grab the camera” moments that it is the little one being photographed 90% of the time. As they grow up it seems I dont take pictures nearly as often.
I am glad to hear your bebe is giving you some rest. That is soooo helpful, especially when you are not a napper. I cant wait to hold her!!! I hope I get a turn or two.
So glad to see that Nora almost slept through the night. Hope that’s a trend that continues!Sorry I missed your visit to the office. Hope I’m here next time you girls come in. Enjoy your 4th weekend and all that you have planned.
