All the latest on Doug, Erin, Molly & Nora

Apparently Nora will eat anything…

March29

Disclaimer: If you are eating something right now or sqeamish about poo, then don’t read any further.  And do not look at the photo.  Seriously!

Ok- this incident happened yesterday.  I turned my back for not even two minutes to help Molly with her coloring book at the kitchen table.  I glance at cute, innocent little Nora playing happily in the living room.  Then I notice that something doesn’t look quite right… we don’t have any brown clumpy toys… what is she playing with?  Wait-what is she eating?  Is that dog poo?  IS THAT HER POO??!!!

Honestly, my very first thought was, “I need to get the video camera out!”  Then I remembered that Doug took it with him to his road trip to Memphis.  So I grabbed my digital camera and fired off a couple of shots.  I did the same thing during Molly’s “Poopy Stairs” incident back in ’07.

I still don’t know exactly how all of this happened, I just knew it was up to me to clean it all up… quickly.  (Doug apparently chose the right day to get out of town!)  We’re having the carpets all cleaned on Friday anyway, so I’ll be at peace once they steam treat the affected area.

On the bright side, we’ll have the perfect parental response to Nora when she refuses to eat her veggies.  We’ll say, “Well, you ate your own poo, so what’s the problem?!”  And when she doesn’t believe me, I’ll have the picture to prove it.

Happiest Place on Earth

March10

We survived our first trip to Disney World!  First of all, a BIG thank you to my sister Steph for coming out to watch Nora while we were gone… she’s a huge lifesaver!!  There’s no way we would have gone down there if we had to take Nora with us… but we did see several infants at the parks.   Wowzers!

Doug was out in Orlando for a tech conference so Molly and I came out at the end of his conference and spent two days at the parks.  We were at Hollywood Studios on Saturday and spent Sunday at Magic Kingdom.  We were able to catch a morning stage show in front of Cinderella’s castle, an afternoon parade, the evening Spectravision parade, and the fireworks finale all at Magic Kingdom which was pretty cool.  One of our favorite times wasn’t even at one of the parks… we had dinner at the Grand Floridian hotel and met Cinderella, Prince Charming, Drisella, Anastasia AND the wicked stepmother, Lady Tremaine!  They were all so fun!

Lessons learned at Disney World:
- Use a stroller.  Even if your kid is 10.
- When the hotel assures you that their alarm clock will automatically adjust to daylight savings time, don’t believe them.
- Do NOT go to the Movie Moments attraction at Hollywood Studios or the Country Bears attraction at Magic Kingdom.
- If you have not ridden fast rides in a while, do NOT ride on the Tower of Terror and then go on the Aerosmith Rockin’ Roller Coaster.
- When your husband reads off the flight departure time, don’t believe him.
- A towncar will get you to the airport very quickly, for a price.

Molly was very sad to leave, so I guess that means we’ll be going back there again someday and we’ll make sure to bring Nora with us, too.   I’ll blog more about it later, but just wanted to get some pictures posted…
