So we got an opportunity to purchase a Nintendo Wii gaming console on Friday… we took the plunge, although Doug was somewhat skeptical.  I played the Wii at a friend’s house a few weeks ago and had so much fun!  A distinguishing feature of the console is its wireless controller, the Wii Remote, which can be used as a handheld pointing device and can detect motion and rotation in three dimensions.  The graphics aren’t anything to write home about, but the way you can use the controller is so cool!  The console came with Wii Sports, where you can play tennis, baseball, bowling, and boxing… too fun!  You really do get your heart-rate going, especially with boxing!  We also purchased the Wii Play disk which features fun games like target shooting, cow racing, tank, fishing, and laser hockey.  (Yes, cow racing!)

 

Another cool feature is the ability to create Miis, which are characters that you can customize to look like you.  These characters pop up during the Play and Sports games and it’s fun to see your friends in Mii form!  Make your own Mii here: http://www.miieditor.com/

So if you are on the fence about getting one, go for it… if you can find one!    Or stop by our place and we’d be happy to play with ya!

We followed our Lazy Saturday up with a Busy Sunday.  We went to church, tested out our new hose system (really cool, it winds the hose up automatically powered by mere water), sprayed for moles (neighbor warned us), fixed up bikes, rearranged and cleaned the garage, hung the bikes, prepared for a garage sale next weekend, secured my vice to the bench, and did I mention we rearranged and cleaned the garage?

Ps. We bought a new grill yesterday and I pick it up tomorrow.  A T-Bone is thawing while you read.  We’ll let you know how it went tomorrow.

Ahhh… it’s about time we had a beautiful weekend to enjoy!  And did we ever! Doug started off the day by washing my car, and Molly decided to help, too.  They did a great job! 

                                 

Then we watched our neighbor, Harrison, perfect his skateboarding jumps.  I got a chance to take some action shots of him, which was a lot of fun! 

                             

Then Doug dusted off his skateboard and tried some moves… let’s just say he’s got to brush up on his skills!  After that, Doug got involved in a neighborhood water fight with some of the kids.  They went old-school, using buckets and cups and it looked like they had a good time.  Then, we let the kids fly a kite that we had purchased for Molly.  It was a little windy and perfect for kites!  A neighbor down the street dug out two really cool kites from his garage and the kids had a blast!  Harrison even harnessed the power of the wind to ride his skateboard.

                                  

Later on, we were out shopping for a new grill and Molly fell in love with this cute frog… he now lives in our front yard.

                                    

Every now and then, you just need a lazy Saturday.
