Celebrating with Gamma and Gampa R

March4

My parents made it over this weekend to get a quick “grandkid fix.”  Even though we are 5 hours away, Molly is currently the closest grandkid because Ava, Elaina and Danielle are over in Japan.  Molly will have to relinquish her title to Baby Boeding in a couple of months, however.

Molly had a good time showing “Gamma” and “Gampa” all her toys.  She also had Gamma read the book “Have You Seen My Cat?”  Let’s just say the book is VERY repetitious!  (And Gamma was the one who got us the book in the first place, so making her read it was meant to teach her a lesson!) “Have you seen my cat?  This is not my cat!”  Gamma and Gampa had to take off early so they could get to their dance lesson.  But before they left, they showed us their flashy salsa moves!  Looks like a lot of fun!

We’ve still got lots of cake left over, so Doug and I have stepped up our portions so that we can finish it off before it gets too old.  (Parenting can be so tough!)

I just went to go check on Molly and I caught her dancing to “California Love” by Tupac on the clock radio in our bedroom… such a rebel!  Now we’re listening to “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong” and I think that’s painfully accurate now that Molly is 2!

Turning two

March2

Molly celebrated her “golden birthday” today… turning two!  What a difference a year makes… Last year I bought her a purple tiara to wear, and she hated it.  She actually cried the moment I placed it on her head.  But this year, she loved wearing it.  So silly!  We celebrated the big day with a “Little Einsteins” cake.  She was so excited when we stopped to pick up the cake today… “Rocket, rocket, rocket!!”  I also picked out a cute happy birthday balloon at the grocery store yesterday and she has had so much fun with it.  She released it into our ceiling almost immediately, so we had to anchor it down by tying it to one of her toys.

                                        Rocket!

As I’m typing this, Molly is on a sugar high.  She doesn’t eat a lot of super-sweet things, so she’s really affected by them when she does get her hands on them!  She got a good swipe at the cake while she was preparing to blow out the candles.  She just couldn’t resist that red rocket!

                                            Time for cake!

And what is the deal with the packaging on children’s toys?!  They have so many twistie ties and anti-tampering measures in place… it took Doug quite a while to get her new toys out of the packaging.  We joked that Saturday Night Live should perform a skit where Fisher-Price packaging execs brainstorm even more stringent methods of securing their products… that would get an awful lot of parents laughing!

Well, time for me to prepare for Molly’s inevitable sugar-crash… our little girl is now officially a “preschooler.”

                                          I'm two!
