We had a fun weekend at the Campbell house! Now that Molly and I are out of the house on Fridays, that gives Doug several uninterrupted hours to work in his home office. This has really helped free up time on the weekends for “family fun.” So on Saturday, we visited the local Children’s Discovery Museum and had a blast! Molly and I had been to the museum a couple of times previously, but this was Doug’s first visit, and certainly not his last! I think he had more fun than Molly, playing with the legos, vacuum tubes, and the marble reaction exhibit. We even ran into two lamas on our way out! Make sure to check out all the photos in our March album.

The weather has been so wonderful lately… Molly and I visited the local zoo this morning with some friends. Molly can be pretty fearless and she walked right up to some free-range birds in the tropical exhibit… such a little daredevil! She loves playing around on those playground jungle-gyms with the fancy slides and ladders, etc. She’s growing up fast!
Last Thursday, Molly officially transitioned into her “big girl bed” in the purple bedroom. I didn’t think she was ready, but Doug persisted and so we gave it a try. She has been sleeping through the night with no problem, but it did take her a while to go down for her nap this afternoon. We’re excited to take the crib out of her playroom so she has more space for her toys. We’re also thinking about getting her a tricycle for this summer, too.

Yikes! It’s been way too long since I last posted! Sorry about that! Last week, I started my new part-time job while Molly went to her preschool class. She cried and threw a fit when I dropped her off, but she was doing fine by the time I came back to pick her up at the end of the day. People told me I should prepare myself for the first couple of drop-offs… that I would feel upset and guilty about it. Actually, it was kind of nice to drop her off and go on to work. It felt good, actually! There, I said it! :O Her second set of molars are coming in, so she’s been a bit “grumpy” this weekend… I’ll have no problem dropping her off at preschool tomorrow morning!
Molly and I were at the grocery store on Thursday, and we walked by the SpaghettiOs in the past aisle. I blurted out the “Uh, oh… SpaghettiOs” jingle, and Molly sang it back to me. It was so cute, and we sang it on and off during the rest of our shopping trip. I’m sure the check-out clerk thought we were nuts! So of course, I had to buy some Spaghettios for dinner that night… they don’t taste as good as I remember, though.

I attended the annual Hearts at Home conference here in town on Friday. It was a much-needed encouragement and uplifting experience for me. Since Molly went to preschool that day and Doug was at home to work in his office, I made him a “take a break” basket, including some of his favorite snack foods and the new James Bond Casino Royale DVD. I gave him instructions to take a break during the day, and snack on the munchies while watching the movie as loud as he wanted. He was so excited to turn up the volume that he lugged up his surround sound speakers from the basement, hooked it all up, and watched the movie right after Molly went to preschool. Since our basement is unfinished and we watch TV and movies in the great room, we have to keep the volume “reasonable” when Molly is sleeping so we don’t wake her. It’s been a tough adjustment for Doug, apparently.
I finally finished up my 2006 scrapbook over the weekend. What a relief! Now I guess I can get started on 2007… it never seems to end!

For those who don’t know, I have gone back to work part-time, joining the marketing team of a local bank. God is so good, providing me with exactly the right job at exactly the right time! I’m very thankful to have spent the past two years staying home with Molly, but I knew it was getting time for me to get out of the house a few days a week and to give Molly a more social, structured environment. We found a great preschool just a block away from my office and Molly’s first day will be Friday… please keep us in your prayers as we adapt to this new chapter in our lives!
I attended a bank training session yesterday and absolutely loved it… then I got to go to lunch with some of my new coworkers and I didn’t have to worry about feeding anyone but myself! It was so nice to sit back and enjoy lunch and adult conversation that’s not centered on parenting… Ahhhh… it’s been so long! Plus, I get to put my professional wardrobe to good use again. I haven’t worn most of those clothes since before I was pregnant, so it’s been a while. Most things still fit, thank goodness!
So that’s the excitement around here these days… take care!
