So I was having a ho-hum day, then my phone rang in the early afternoon. 

“Erin?” said a familiar voice.

“Keturah?!  What’s up?”

It just so happened that an old hometown pal was driving through Central Illinois on her way to a historical Shaker re-enactment event out in Kentucky.  And since our new house is just a stone’s throw from the interstate, we met out there as they drove through town.  Just when you need it, an old friend will lift your spirits!

Which reminds me of many wacky memories with Keturah… The “Krafty Kids Klub,” sledding on “Hagen Hill,” and filming our own adaptation of The Three Musketeers are just a couple of fun memories that come to mind!

Erin twisted my arm into writing a post. 1 post to Erin’s 10 posts isn’t a bad ratio…it’s terrible. My bad. Anyway….

We are healing up slowly but surely. Molly has been a pretty good sport despite being sick. She’s been “cuddly” which is something we are not familiar with. She is usually GO..GO..GO! I’m planning to go to work tomorrow. We’ll see how that goes.

 

We stopped by the house late this afternoon and saw a good amount of progress since Saturday: 

• The doors were painted
• The trim was painted
• The tile was being installed in the master bathroom
• The sidewalk was poured

Things are looking great!

P.S. Erin wasn’t impressed with how the blue turned out in the master bedroom/bathroom and wants to change it. We’re going to go a bit darker/more blue.

Yep- we’re sick.  First, Molly starting having a running nose on Friday, then Doug started to feel a cold coming on yesterday, and then this morning I started to feel sick, too.  I think we’ve all just caught colds, so it’s nothing too serious.  But we are all taking naps, going through lots of kleenex, and trying not to get on each other’s nerves!  At least we’re all miserable together! 

Sorry I haven’t posted lately… not much exciting has been happening on the house… the trim carpenters got all the cabinets installed, put up the stair railing and installed all the trimwork around the doors and windows.  We also received our stove and microwave yesterday, but they’ll sit in their boxes for a couple of weeks.  Now the painters are out there painting all the trim and then they will put a 2nd coat of paint on the walls.  This week the sidewalk, patio slab, and mailbox will be done; the granite countertops will be delivered; and the master bath tub and shower should be tiled.  I’ll make sure to get pictures online to show you!  Our builder thinks we may be done around Oct. 5, so we were really excited to hear that!  I am SO ready to move!!

Yesterday, we went out to Moraine View State Park to cook out with our friends, the Heinrichs.  Doug and I haven’t been out camping for many years, so it was nice to get away from town and relax in front of the campfire for a couple of hours.  Molly really had a fun time playing in the woods and exploring nature with Kallie and Marcus.  The weather was so nice and comfortable!

That’s about all the excitement we can stand for now… I’ll post in a few days when we feel better!
