Just when you think everything is going great…
We were out at the house talking to our landscaper this morning, and I asked him what kind of trees where growing in our backyard. He paused a little, then told me they were Mulberry trees. He went on to say that the trees are fine, but the berries are a source of many problems… the mulberries are very messy and will probably get tracked onto our floors and patio. He also said that the bird droppings will be everywhere and will stain. Ugghh! I can just see Molly, Kiwi and Rudy tracking in mulberry stains all over my new carpet in the spring, and purple bird poop all over the patio and deck… NO THANK YOU!!
Our landscaper recommended taking down the trees. Doing it professionally would probably cost around $1,000. Double Ugghh! I suggested that Doug and his buddies have a “chainsaw party” later this fall and then just drag the tree limbs to the curb. So if you have a chainsaw, we will be calling!
I suppose we can turn the stumps into a little playground or something. Plus, taking down the trees will open up our view of the cornfield.

What a day! Molly and I traveled over to Peoria to visit my college friend Amber and her adorable kids, Luke and Ruth. We went to Apple Blossom Farm and had fun feeding the goats and playing with the pumpkins!

When we got back into town, I drove by the house to check on the progress… we’ve got light fixtures up and the painting seems to be almost complete. But I’m still not too sure on the blue color in the master bath. Oh well!

When we first talked about building a house, one of Doug’s “must-have’s” was granite countertops. I was completely on board, until we started to get estimates! But Doug stuck his ground, and our builder was able to pull some strings on the cost. The countertops were just installed today and we are so happy with them!! The color is exactly what we wanted and there really is nothing like granite! (Doug, you were right… this time!)

Over the weekend, we drove up to Chicago to visit Doug’s parents and his sister Chris. Molly had a fun time playing the slot machine with Grandpa and splashing in Grandma’s fountain!

We also got a chance to visit Aunt Betty, Uncle Dan, cousin Lisa & the twins. Molly just loved running around with Hunter and Faith in their new house!

That’s all for now!
