Lots of adventures this weekend… Grandma and Grandpa R came out for a visit, and brought some good ole Iowa corn with them. Grandma gave Molly her very first cornsilk mustache and Molly really enjoyed eating the corn fresh off the cob!

We also went out to take a look at the new house, and they started on the exterior brick. Also, the interior is completely drywalled! Woo-hoo! Now we’re making some good progress. Our builder thinks we may be finished by mid-October. (We’re keeping our fingers crossed…)

The smell of cardboard is filling our current place as we begin to pack things up. We’re discovering lots of forgotten books and items as we clean out the bookshelves and closets! Scary!

Molly is learning new things left and right lately! She can now locate her belly button on demand, as pictured below! Very adorable! We watched Doug play a volleyball double-header last night and she had fun cheering on her daddy!

And here is the latest on the house… they started siding yesterday and should be done soon. All the windows are installed, insulation is almost complete, electrical is done, and drywall should start next week. Now we’re rolling!

Make sure to check out our August photos!

OK, so we sold the house and need to be out by late August. I spent several hours last week trying to find an apartment that would give us a short-term lease AND allow dogs. Good news: we found a good apartment. Bad news: we have to board the dogs. I keep saying to myself, “We’re just sending the dogs to a doggy-camp for a few weeks! They’ll be OK!” At least we won’t be too far from them and we can check on them often.
So Doug and I were talking about the adjustments we’ll have to make when we move to the apartment. I got a little flustered and blurted out, “Well, at least we’ll have… digital cable.” But right when I said “digital cable,” Doug chimed in with “each other.” I felt like such a dork! We laughed pretty hard about it! Whew! (I act like such a guy sometimes!)
We picked out floor tile, carpet, and wall colors last week. This is a picture of me going crazy over all the different shades of white that are available! They all start looking the same after a while…
On Saturday, we went to the county fair with some friends. Molly had fun at the petting zoo with her daddy! Molly started to lose interest during the sea lion show, so we had to get her home for bedtime. On Sunday, Doug and I played a fun game with Molly… we would start saying the lines from one of her favorite books, then she walked over to her bucket of books and picked up the right one! We thought it was a fluke at first, but we did it over and over about 6 times and she grabbed the right book EVERY time! Doug and I were in awe! I guess she IS listening to us!
